so cozy you don't even feel the cold

A good snow is something hard to come by in the Midwest. As a kid, I have fond memories of heavy snows that would bring lots of magical moments. But as an adult I felt like the snow would never come as it hadn't snowed heavily in years.

This year was different though and the world finally decided to bless us with two beautiful snows with the perfect temps for it to stick around for multiple days each time. Being a photographer here in Missouri, I've never had the opportunity to shoot in the snow, so when Anne Dee messaged me with details of an intimate, snowy engagement filled with all the magical moments of snow ball fights, snow angels, and more I couldn't help myself but immediately say yes.

After missing the first round of snow with work schedules, we planned and prayed for the snow to come again. Long story short, it did, and it brought frigid below freezing temps with it (this is usually about my luck when I try to do anything).

Luckily fate worked out perfectly and we live down the road from each other. So after a short + slow drive on icy snow packed roads, Anne Dee + Matt met me to walk to the perfect little secluded spot with beautiful cedar trees to make the most breathtaking backdrop for the snow. It honestly couldn't have worked out more perfectly.

We frolicked through the snow, popped champagne, and had a great time despite the windchill of -10. The intimate, innocent moments as they laughed together brought back all of the emotions of magic, love, and whimsicalness from my snowy childhood memories.

But the best part was seeing Anne Dee's response afterwards when seeing her vision come to life and having her authentic, candid snowy engagement dreams come true. These photos will forever be some of my favorites!
